The Open farm is free of charge for customers of the Farm Shop and Donkey Shed Restaurant. Please retain your receipt from the Farm Shop or Restaurant if you wish to visit the Open Farm.
The Open Farm gives our visitors a chance to meet our farm animals. You will be able to thank our chickens for their delicious eggs and meet Neddy and Dani, our donkeys, who are always ready to welcome visitors, especially those bringing carrots. Neddy and Dani used to live in the ‘Donkey Shed’, but kindly agreed to relocate when we decided to convert it to a restaurant.
Sharing a field with our donkeys are the ‘Cowdashians’, our young heifers. We also have pigs, goats and a Shetland pony named Buster.
Perhaps the cutest little guy you will meet is Pudding a little black and white pig who was rehomed on the farm when his original owners no longer had the space to look after him. Unfortunately, as a young piglet, Pudding broke one of his front legs and it healed badly so he has been left with quite a distinctive limp. Luckily it does not cause him any pain and distress and Pudding is one of the happiest animals on the farm.
Like Pudding, the majority of the Animals living at Newbarn have been rehomed from elsewhere, unfortunately we cannot rehome every animal in need so we advise all those who visit our animals that although our goats, donkeys, pigs etc are all friendly and charming, they all require specialist care and a lot of space and are not suitable a pets for the average household.
